District Nurses
Our District Nursing team run clinics based at several locations across the city, and are based at the Match works in Speke. In conjunction with the practice they are responsible for looking after several areas of our patients’ care including the health needs of house bound patients. We work closely alongside our community Health Visitor to offer support and advice on any health and child development issues.

Cervical Smears
If your smear is due you should be sent a reminder from the practice and you should make an appointment with the nurse.
The ideal time to have a smear is midway between periods.
Cervical Smears are not usually done during pregnancy as the results can be difficult to interpret. It would therefore be delayed until 3 months after the baby is born.
The cervical smear checks the cells from the cervix. It is not used to detect cancer but to detect abnormal cells which in some cases can go on to develop into cancer. Treatment can then be given to the abnormal cells to prevent cancer developing.
In England, you will first be sent an invitation for screening at the age of 25. You will then be invited every 3 years until the age of 49 and then every 5 years until the age of 65. If you have an abnormal smear, you may be invited more frequently.

Health Visitor Clinics & Childhood Immunisations
Book an appointment with our practice nurse for your child’s immunisations. The practice nurse is able to offer support and advice on any health and child development issues as well as give childhood immunisations and discuss any questions about your child's health.

HPV Vaccination
We offer all female patients aged between 12 and 18 the HPV Vaccination, also known as the cervical cancer jab. You will need three injections over about six months to get the best protection. Please make an appointment with our Nurse Vicky for you vaccination.

NHS Health Checks
NHS Health Checks are being offered to people aged between 40 and 74 once every five years. The check is to assess your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes. If there are any warning signs, then together we can do something about it. By taking early action, you can improve your health and prevent the onset of these conditions.
The check should take about 20 - 30 minutes and is based on straightforward questions and measurements such as age, sex, family history, height, weight and blood pressure. Following the check, you will receive free personalised advice about what you can do to stay healthy.

Chlamydia Screening
Available to all 15-24 year olds registered at the surgery. Getting tested for Chlamydia is quick, simple and confidential. It’s just a simple urine test or swab and you'll receive your result back within a fortnight. If you fall into this age group and wish to be tested please contact the surgery on 0151 724 2396.

Minor Surgery
Storrsdale Medical Centre offers enhanced services which cover services outside the normal primary care consultation, this includes minor surgery. Dr Murugesh obtained a fellowship from The Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow and has vast surgical experience and carries out Joint Injections and Minor Surgical Procedures in the surgery
